Hello! I’m back!

Life got more than a bit hectic over the past few weeks and sadly that meant blogging had to take a backseat. But now the university semester is finished, which means I can channel my time and energy into writing posts, and what better a time to start than the first day of Blogmas?!

The past few months have been quite difficult to be honest. Just before the semester began, I broke several bones, which meant a lot of pain for much of the semester. I also had yet another medical diagnosis, so there have been a lot of tests, doctor visits, medication adjustments, new symptoms, and time spent trying to wrap my head around what the new condition means for me and my future. On top of that, the two subjects I did at uni were unfamiliar to me and with all that was going on externally, it was very hard to keep up and to learn the new information! At the beginning of the semester, I very nearly dropped a subject to just concentrate on one because I knew it was going to be a tough few months. But I decided to jump in with both feet. This meant the vicious circle of chronic illness was in full swing…try hard to work to the best of my ability at uni —> a lot of symptoms —> stress because this impacts the time and energy available to study —> a lot of cramming study in at odd hours —> even more symptoms —> even harder to keep up with uni… and so on and so on! But today the semester results were released, and not only am I pleased with myself for making it through the semester, I actually got pretty good grades! When you have chronic illnesses, it is important to give yourself a pat on the back when you’ve tried so hard to keep up with life, and I feel this is a time to do just that. Not to blow my own trumpet, but *pat pat*!!! My body is still making things very difficult, but now that I can spend my days resting rather than pushing myself to study and attend classes, hopefully it will be a little easier to deal with.

I mentioned that I am going to take part in Blogmas, which means posting frequently during the lead up to Christmas. I only just decided to take part yesterday, so I have in no way prepared!! But I have ideas and I hope to make it as interesting and fun as possible. There are several ways to do Blogmas, such as posting every day or doing Twelve Days of Christmas. I am going to do the latter, and plan to post every second day. Are you doing Blogmas? I would love it if you let me know if you are so that I can check out your posts!

I just wanted to do a little update to explain where I’ve been and to kick off Blogmas. I hope you’re all as well as possible and that you have some exciting plans for the next few weeks, whether you celebrate Christmas or not. Please say hello in the comments below and let me know what you’ve been up to.

  1. Great post! I’m actually just reading Killer Look by Linda Fairstein, and on my TBR next list is The Circle by Dave Eggers (was given this for my birthday back in August but have been too busy reading American crime thrillers to give it a go..!) Happy reading!
    Caz 🙂
